Frequently asked questions

How do I play?

Tap a rope to pull it off the board. You can only pull a rope that nothing lies on top of. The rope you pull coils up and takes one of the five slots at the bottom. As soon as three coils of the same colour sit in the slots, they vanish and free the space again. Clear the whole board — and the slots — to win the level.

Why won’t this rope move?

Because another rope crosses over it. A rope trapped underneath resists, and trying to pull it costs you a heart. You have three hearts per level. Look at the crossings: at each one, one rope clearly passes above the other. Start with the ones on top.

What happens if the slots fill up?

There are five slots. If all five are taken and no three share a colour, nothing can clear and the level ends — you can retry it straight away. The way to avoid it is to think one colour ahead: before pulling, ask yourself whether a third rope of that colour is reachable.

What are the ropes tied together?

Knots. Two knotted ropes only leave together: both must be clear at the same time, and they take two slots at once. They appear from level 7. Later on, more than two ropes can be tied into the same bundle.

I ended up with more than five ropes in one move — is that a bug?

No. A knotted bundle arrives all at once, and any set of three matching colours clears within that same move. So a pair can still come down when a single slot looks free, as long as it completes a match. It looks surprising the first time, but the rule never lets you finish a move over the limit.

What are the grey ropes with a “?” on them?

Mystery ropes. Their colour stays hidden for as long as another rope covers them, and it is revealed the moment they become free. They appear from level 12. They are what stops you from planning the whole board in advance — you have to open it up to find out.

How do padlocks and keys work?

A rope carrying a padlock will not move, even when nothing covers it. Its key is somewhere else on the board, hanging on another rope: pull that rope, and every padlock of the same metal springs open at once. Brass keys open brass padlocks, steel opens steel. They appear from level 19.

Are all the levels really solvable?

Yes — every one of them. The levels are built backwards, by laying the ropes down in the reverse of a valid removal order, so a solution exists by construction. You will never meet a board that cannot be cleared.

I’m stuck. Any advice?

Two habits help most. First, read the crossings before you touch anything: the rope that passes above is the one that can leave. Second, count colours. With only five slots, the danger is never the rope you pull, it is the fourth and fifth colour you open without being able to complete them. When in doubt, pull the rope that gives you a third of a colour already in the slots.

Does the game ever end?

There are 1000 hand-checked levels. After that the game keeps going: it draws a level you have not played in your last 100 games, so the challenge stays high and never repeats itself in a hurry.

How do the daily challenges work?

Daily challenges unlock at level 20. A new puzzle is then available each day — the same one for every player in the world. Completing every day of a month earns you that month’s trophy, shown at the top of the calendar.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. Your progress is stored locally on your device and loads automatically each time you open the App. It is removed if you uninstall the App.

Can I turn the sound or the vibration off?

Yes. Open the settings (the gear icon on the level screen) and switch Sound or Vibration off.

Can I play offline?

Yes. Ropna needs no account and no internet connection to play.

Does the App show ads?

Ropna is free and supported by advertising. Depending on the version you have installed, ads may not be active yet; where they are, they are kept as light as we can make them and never interrupt a level in progress. You can manage ad personalization through your device settings — see our Privacy Policy for details.
